Farewell from Tracy Krueger, DCE

By now you have heard that I have taken a call to my home congregation, St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Grafton, WI. It is very bittersweet for me to leave St. Andrews. When I started here back in 2005, I came in with excitement, fear, and some new ideas; but really, I had no real clue what I was doing. Thank you to everyone who patiently helped me learn and grow. A special thank you to my coworkers who truly helped me become a better leader throughout my time here.

I have loved getting to meet so many new people over the years and I am so grateful for all the people who made me feel like I was a part of the family. Some of my favorite memories include: VBS, first Bible classes, confirmation retreats, park ministry, and young adult activities. The relationships I have built over the years and the growth I have seen are the best parts of ministry.

Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who stepped up throughout my time here to help with MOPS, Sunday school, high school youth, VBS, outreach events, and more. I couldn’t have done any of these things successfully without all of your encouragement, love, help, and support.

It has been a pleasure to serve here at St. Andrews for the past 16 years. I have loved every moment that I have spent getting to know the people here and watching you grow in faith over the years. It is hard for me to say goodbye, but I look forward to all that God has in store for me in the years to come.

TOPIC:  FRANCIS
CHAN- Finding Truth

In this four-session series, pastor and author Francis Chan
invites students into the power and confidence that comes from anchoring their
identity, purpose, and relationships in the truth of Scripture. Students will
walk away with practical steps toward building their lives on the firm
foundation of the Bible.

This small group is aimed to reach any college student or young
adult (approximately 19-24 yrs).  This group has been meeting for about 3
years.  We are excited to introduce a short but powerful study for this
fall.  

 

We will be meeting on the following Mondays from
6:30pm-8pm.  

6:30pm-7:00pm is dinner and connection time

7-8:00pm Video and discussion time.

Sunday Adult Bible Study at 9:45

Wisdom for our World Today


As we continue with our Mid-Morning Sunday class, this week we will tackle the
concept of Biblical Identity. In our world today, so much ink has been spilled
on the topic of “being true to yourself”, but if we look to what
God’s Word says about humanity and our need for a Savior, is listening to your
heart really the way to go? Come to the fellowship hall this Sunday
between the first and second service to talk about the secret of your
identity, and how it is found in the forgiveness and mercy God has for you!

Words of Encouragement 

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,
 
As the days get shorter, and the temperatures drop, even if it’s just by a few degrees, Christmas gets closer and closer. Our Savior is coming, a bare child, wrapped in rags, nestled amongst hay, laying in a feeding trough. For our lives today, and maybe even for the lives of all sinners, God’s plan of salvation for humanity seems silly, and maybe even hopeless. A useless answer to the situation we are living in. COVID is still ravaging our communities, and maybe even your own family has been affected by it as well. Death, the loss of a job or income, or even just the isolation that comes when people fail to meet together, they all pull us away from Jesus. The holidays, Christmas and New Year’s, they seem to be a little less full of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love this year, don’t they?

            Malachi 3:7 says “Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of Hosts. But you say, ‘How shall we return?’” and right now, in the middle of COVID, you may be asking yourself, “How will we return back to normal? How will my life ever be the same? How will we ever recover from this? How will I return to the hope I have in Christ?” As the world wanders about, afraid of the future, and awaiting the end of this horrible virus, Christmas is still getting closer and closer. And Jesus promises you: “For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O Children of Jacob, are not consumed.” (Malachi 3:6).

            This Advent, and maybe especially during it’s third week, we remember the Joy that Christ has given us, not only through his birth, but through the many promises that He gives. The promise of everlasting life. The promises of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. The promise of forgiveness. And the promise of Family, the Body of Christ. Jesus is the Lord who does not change, and because of that, what He promises you remains true forever. As Advent comes to a close and Christmas gets closer and closer, we at Saint Andrews pray that you are inspired by the gifts God gives you, and that you do not fall into sadness this Christmas. Christ is for you, and He is born, a babe in a manger, for you! 

            And so, keep up those holiday traditions! Bake something for your neighbor. Talk to one another and see how you all are doing. The Hope you have in Christ is not gone. In fact, it calls you outwards towards others! Christ is coming and His promises remain sure. He defeated sin, death, and hell. And the same God that was crucified came down from heaven as a baby for you. Do not lose hope at the end of 2020. Why? Because Christ. Is. For. You!

LCC WELCOMES ST. ANDREWS, STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA, TO THE K-9 COMFORT DOG MINISTRY


LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Rahab will serve as a bridge for St. Andrews to show the Mercy, Compassion, Presence and Proclamation of Jesus Christ to those who are suffering and in need. Rahab Comfort Dog’s Bible verse is Joshua 2:11: “When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.”
The LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry is one of presence. When the Lord calls, we must go and serve Him. Isaiah 6:8 tells us, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’” St. Andrews team has heard the call and has said “Here am I. Send me.”

The following new LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry handlers have heard the call:

Home Worship Resources

There’s nothing like confessing, praying, and singing along with a large group of people, all worshipping the Lord in the same place. In fact, the book of Revelation describes a beautiful scene where “a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages,” will worship the Lord at the foot of His throne (Revelation 7:9, 10). But is being in a large group the only way to enjoy praising God? Of course not!

King David wrote some of his prayers and worship songs while hiding in caves (see Psalms 57 and 142). Paul and Silas sang hymns together in a dungeon (Acts 16). Daniel prayed alone in his house every day (Daniel 6). Jesus told His followers  that it’s better to pray inside your room with the door shut than to show off with public prayer (Matthew 5:5, 6). Jonah even sang a prayer while inside the belly of a fish!

As Americans, most of us are used to the gift of being able to regularly worship in a group on Sundays and during the week. Right now, it’s best not to do that, so what can we do? In addition to joining St. Andrews for live-stream worship on Sundays at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m., here are some worship-at-home ideas for you and your family!
